Inuvik Airport Air Terminal Building Replacement

Planning is underway to replace the main terminal building at the Inuvik (Mike Zubko) Airport. The new terminal building will provide improved public spaces, baggage systems, concessions, airport operations and improved accessibility.

Overall, travellers will notice an improved passenger experience and an airport that better fits the needs of various users.

  • The new terminal building will provide opportunities for economic development in the Beaufort Delta Region, through local contracts.
  • The Government of Canada is investing $31.5 million in this project through the Green Infrastructure Stream (GIS) of the Investing in Canada plan, and the Government of the Northwest Territories is providing $10.5 million.
  • Public meetings/presentations to the community were held in September 2016, January and February 2020 to gather feedback to better inform the design decisions, keep the community informed and give residents the opportunity to ask questions.
  • Construction is expected to be completed by 2025.
