Baggage and Security Screening

At Yellowknife Airport, The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) is responsible for screening all passengers and their belonging prior to boarding and the screening of non-passengers entering airport restricted areas.

Passengers are advised to review the screening procedures prior to departure by visiting the CATSA website or calling 1-888-294-2202.

CATSA has recently improved the luggage and security screening at Yellowknife Airport.

Check-In Time

Check-in times can vary depending on the airline and other factors. For information on specific flights, please check with your airline before you come to the airport.

Yellowknife Airport recommends checking in at least two hours prior to the scheduled departure time.

Flight Delays/Cancellations

Factors outside of our control, such as inclement weather, can cause flight delays and cancellations. To check the status of your flight, contact your airline directly or visit our arrivals and departures page, which is updated regularly by the airlines.

All passengers should carry valid photo identification. Travellers flying to international destinations, including the United States, must have a valid passport.

Some countries also require other documentation. To find out what you need to travel from Canada to specific countries, contact the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade. To get information on what you need to travel to Canada, please contact the Canada Border Services Agency.
