Sale and Donation of Surplus Goods

The GNWT offers public sales of surplus goods on a regular basis, and donations to priority interest groups, such as chairs, desks and cabinets.

Public Sales

The sales are offered on the first Friday of every month from February to December between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. 

Purchased goods must be collected and transported by the buyer. The GNWT is not responsible for any transportation costs. Sales are first-come, first-serve.

Only cash and company cheques are accepted as payment. Personal cheques are not valid. 

Donation of Surplus Goods

Outside of the sale hours, goods that are declared surplus may be donated to priority interest groups for nominal or no consideration. The donation shall be offer in the following order:

  1. NWT Public Corporations
  2. Community Governments
  3. Band Councils, Metis Locals and Non Profit Organizations

Priority interest groups are asked to provide a letter addressed to their local regional office indicating which surplus goods they are interesting in.

Transportation costs will be the responsibility of the organization.
