With 500 employees working across the territory, the Department of Infrastructure (INF) is one of the largest departments. INF has launched a campaign to highlight some of its hard-working employees and the important work they do.

The fourth profile of the campaign is Gael Maxwell, Hospital Engineering Technician in Inuvik.

I’ve been working as a Hospital Engineering Technician in Inuvik for over 5 years now. I help run the biomass fuel plant to create clean, renewable energy for the Inuvik Hospital. This role includes ensuring the plant is being operated in a safe and efficient manner… I’ve always wanted to come experience and be a part of “the North”. I enjoy the various challenges the position brings through the many roles and tasks that must be performed in a given working day, which I personally find very rewarding.

Technicians are key to ensuring that the GNWT is able to provide and maintain clean renewable energy sources for a greener future in the Northwest Territories.
