Jean Marie River Bridge

Quick Facts

  • Highway 1 crosses the Jean Marie River at km 411.2, immediately south of the Highway 7 junction.
  • The existing bridge is currently reduced to a single lane traffic with a reduced speed limit and requires replacement.
  • The new bridge will be on the same alignment.
  • The new bridge will be a single span steel girder bridge with a concrete deck.
  • A detour will be constructed to accommodate traffic during construction.

Project Highlights

  • Access for wide loads travelling on Highway 1 will be improved.
  • Horizontal restrictions of the existing bridge will be removed.
  • Higher clearance than the existing bridge will accommodate 100 year flood level.
  • The GNWT is currently working to attain permits for the project and complete the tender package.
