About YZF

About

Yellowknife Airport (YZF) serves as the primary aviation gateway of the Northwest Territories. It is one of the 26 airports included in the National Airports System as an infrastructure asset imperative to Canada’s air transportation system.

Services

Strategically located, YZF is an accessible, convenient, and well-connected hub for services both within and beyond the realm of aviation.

YZF conducts federal and territorial aviation operations related to national defense, forest fire fighting, medevac and charter services, and base facilities.

YZF also hosts extensive commercial activities, including but not limited to airline services, cargo, storage, logistics, automotive rentals and dealerships, and fuel dispensing.

With the provision of these services, YZF plays a major role in supporting industry, tourism, security, and quality of life in the Northwest Territories.

Funding

The YZF Revolving Fund came into force on July 1, 2017, allowing revenues generated by YZF to be retained and cover all operating and capital expenditures. This works to provide YZF with a secure and self-sustaining financial foundation.
