Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program

Overview
This funding program is designed to support installing electric vehicle charging infrastructure in public places, street locations, multi-unit residential buildings, workplaces and for light-duty vehicle fleets in the NWT.
Funding for the program is provide by the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) and the Government of Canada under the Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program.
Note: This funding program is only available to incorporated entities. If you are an individual looking to install electric vehicle charging infrastructure in your home, the Arctic Energy Alliance has a funding program for this.
Deadline
The program is accepting applications until September 1, 2024 – or until funds are fully used.
Available Funding
This is an application-based program. The funding provided is:
- Up to 50% of the total eligible cost of a new project – not exceeding $5,000 per connector for level 2 charging infrastructure; and up to $75,000 per charger for level 3 fast charging infrastructure.
Eligibility
This funding is open to legal entities validly incorporated or registered in Canada, including not-for-profit and for-profit organizations installing electric vehicle infrastructure, such as:
- Businesses and industries
- Electricity or gas utilities
- Academic and research institutions
- Community governments
- Indigenous governments and organizations
- GNWT departments, agencies, and Crown corporations – as well as related organizations.
How to apply
- Review the application guidelines.
- If you are seeking funding for up to two level 2 connectors, you will follow the Simplified Application Process and:
- Complete the application form
- Submit the completed application form along with all supporting documents
- If you are seeking funding for three or more level 2 connectors or one or more level 3 fast charger(s), you will follow the Detailed Application Process and:
- Complete the application form
- Complete the proposal form
- Complete the application form and the proposal form along with all supporting documents
