Public Engagement
The GNWT values the opinions and experiences of Northwest Territories residents and recognizes the need for meaningful opportunities for public input.
We are committed to engaging with residents at each step of the Mackenzie Valley Highway Project. Engagement activities are designed to gather feedback to understand interests and concerns of affected parties so that we can consider and integrate relevant information into the project planning, design, construction, and operations.
The GNWT Have Your Say page provides detailed information on active and past public engagement for the Project.
Who we engage with
The GNWT engages with Indigenous governments, Indigenous organizations, community governments/designated authorities, renewable resource boards and councils, co-management boards, educational institutions, public services, health and cultural organizations, landowners, private organizations, emergency services, local businesses, and residents in the affected communities
The GNWT also engages with regulatory authorities of the Project, federal and GNWT departments with associated mandates, and the public.
Methods of engagement range from written communications to in-person meetings, focus groups, or community meetings, depending on the nature of the information to be communicated and feedback sought.
Engagement will continue through all phases of the Project.
