The GNWT phones, websites and email will not be accessible starting Saturday, May 15 at 10:30pm through Sunday, May 16 at 7:00am. 9-1-1, 811, and phones for Stanton Territorial Hospital and Inuvik Hospital will continue to work.

COVID-19 Updates

Effective October 13, 2020, travellers and employees will be required to wear a mask while inside Northwest Territories airport terminal buildings. Until this requirement comes into effect, the public is still encouraged to wear masks within our airport facilities.

Until further notice, only passengers, employees and service staff are permitted inside Northwest Territories airports. If you are dropping someone off or picking someone up, please do not enter the terminal. 


Yellowknife Airport (YZF) is a full-service, customer friendly facility that supports commercial, corporate and general aviation.

Located in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories (NWT), Canada, the airport is within a five minute drive from downtown. YZF is the central hub for the NWT airport system. 

  • Regularly scheduled air service to destinations in southern Canada is provided by Air Canada Express, Air North, Canadian North, Northwestern Air Lease and WestJet. 
  • Regularly scheduled air service to the communities is provided by Air North, Air Tindi, Canadian North, Northwestern Air Lease, Northwright Air, and Summit Air.
